Europe
Europe must tackle the major challenges of the future together. I am working for a Europe that is more sustainable, more supportive, fairer and more responsible towards the world and its citizens. This also applies to digitisation. The agenda for most digital issues is set in Brussels and I am fighting for Europe to assert its democratic values in technological terms too.

Europe Calling ‘Hostile Takeover? – How tech billionaires are undermining our democracies & what the EU can do’
Register right here! Dear friends! It’s unmistakable: with Twitter, the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, has bought himself a megaphone and is holding it right up to the world’s ears. He is not only interfering in US politics, which he will control as a de facto member of Donald Trump’s government. In Germany, […]
Success against election manipulation by Tiktok: EU Commission launches investigation into Romanian election
Dear friends, This is a bombshell. Don’t leave us alone! – My political trip to Washington D.C.
Dear friends! Not even two weeks after the US election, I boarded a plane to Washington D.C. to talk to civil society, activists and decision-makers in Congress and the White House. My vote for Ursula von der Leyen and against Manfred Weber’s far-right course
Dear friends, Yesterday, the European Parliament approved the new EU Commission. Rarely have I thought about a vote for so long. Also our Green/EFA group had different opinions, because there are good arguments for and against a vote for the second EU Commission of Ursula von der Leyen. I would like to explain to you […]
Dark clouds at the European Parliament’s finest hour
Dear friends, Yesterday afternoon, the first hearings of the new EU Commissioners-designate began. Dear friends, Yesterday (Wednesday, 23 October 2024), our fears came true: For the first time ever, the group of the European People’s Party (EPP) has approved a motion by the far-right group ‘Europe of Sovereign Nations’ (ESN). The ESN is a new group, dominated by the German AfD, in which all the far-right extremists have […]

Disproportionate surveillance in the refugee camps – My Open Letter to the EU Commission
The inhumane conditions in the camps for refugees on the Greek islands have horrified us all, but so have the methods used to monitor the inhabitants. In the camps, the surveillance system CENTAUR is deployed, which monitors the residents around the clock with cameras, drones, X-ray scanners, electronic exit controls and loudspeakers. It is financed […]
My assessment of the Council’s position on the DSA
We urgently need strict rules concerning the transparency of large platforms in Europe.
