Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is a term which describes various technologies that process very large amounts of data. Often they are self-developing and are therefore a new challenge for our society. AI applications are already making many decisions for us: They determine which videos are recommended to us on YouTube, how high our credit limit is, or whether we reach the final round of an application process.
It is time for comprehensive AI legislation in Europe, which included ethical rules. These must be based on our European values and fundamental rights such as human dignity and privacy, and protect us from dangerous excesses. I am committed to this in my work in the Internal Market and Consumer Rights Committee (IMCO) and the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age (AIDA).
